MON LUNG KUNG FU GRADING EXAMINATIONS

The new year brought good news to a number of the Malta Self-Defence Academy students.

Following their participation in the bi-annual grading exams held in December, a number of students were presented with their sash and certificate by Club instructor Sifu Mark Spiteri.

During these examinations, the students had the opportunity to display a series of different techniques ranging from various blocks, hand strikes and kicks.

Students also demonstrated a series of choreographed fighting movements called tao lu. Each student showed the effectiveness of a range of realistic Self-defence techniques against a series of opponents.

These included defences techniques against hand strikes, kicks, holds and also weapon attacks.

The successful students are:

Yellow sash: Kyran Aquilina, Kevin Farrugia

Orange sash: Hugo Borg Plotnikov, Jean Borg Plotnikov, Emma Laudi

Blue sash: Nicole Spiteri

Purple sash: Owen Galea-Bonnici
