SWIEQI PHOENIX CLAIM VICTORY OVER LA SALLE

A heated game between the men’s top contenders on a rainy Monday morning in Tal-Qroqq saw Swieqi beating La Salle 21-15.

The two teams fought passionately for the three points that would see them closer to the title, displaying dynamic attacks and a compact defence during the extremely close encounter.

In the second half, Swieqi Phoenix, led by the Hungarian Andrea Szanto and fuelled by a crowd of supporters, came out stronger and secured their win with a 6 goal difference.

The game was refereed by Luigi Naudi (Kavallieri) and Marilyn Agius (Aloysians)

Luxol H.C. and Aloysians played a levelled game straight after, with Luxol H.C. taking Aloysians by surprise and holding them up in a neck-and-neck game until Aloysians scored the winning goal in the final minutes of the match. Full time score, 22-23.

Swieqi Phoenix lead the scoreboards with 19 points from eight games, La Salle and Aloysians joint second with 16 points.

The third round will start this weekend with 5 more games per team be played by the end of the league. The competition after that is the Knockout for both Men and Women's teams.
