DRIZZLE DOES NOT DAMPEN LADIES SPIRITS

The light drizzle that runners woke up to on Sunday morning , did not dampen their spirits and resulted in an excellent turnout for the Ladies Only 10k Race – the only one of its kind in Malta.

Starting and finishing in Tigne Point, the race route took athletes along Sliema Seafront on towards St. Julian’s and back

Top two contenders for the win were Lisa Bezzina and Josann Attard Pulis. Despite both professing to be taking a cautious approach, prior to the race, due to the forthcoming Full and Half Marathons, the two athletes took a strong lead from the very start.

In the end it was Bezzina that prevailed in a time of 40 minutes 33 seconds. Attard Pulis followed her three minutes and 8 seconds later.

Interestingly both athletes shaved off substantial time off the times registered on the same route last year. Third placed was Maria Coleman, who finished the route in 46 minutes 26 seconds.

A Prize Giving presentation to all category and overall winners took place immediately after the race.

The race organisers wish to thank the local Authorities in particular the Police Force, Transport Malta and Sliema and St. Julian’s Local Councils for their support

The next edition of the 10k Series will take place on Sunday 22nd April.
