DETERMINED PERFORMANCE BY PELLEGRIN

Following yesterday’s disappointing day for Malta at the Pyeonchang Winter Olympic’s Malta’ Elise Pellegrin made up with a good performance in the Women’s Slalom event today at Yongpyong Alpine Centre when Pellegrin finished in 50th place from 74 athletes.

Pellegrin started with a strong first session. With a potential time to give her a top 30 placing, Pellegrin went a bit wide on one the gates but handled the course well to still enable a 56th place finish and attempt a second run.

In the second session, held in the afternoon Pellegrin skied much more confidently and improved her position by 6 places to end up 50th position from 74 athletes.

Considering the tough windy and icy conditions she handled the slope very well today finishing way above many other countries.

Sweden's Frida Hansdotter won the gold medal with a total time of 1.38.63, Silver Medal went to Swiss Wendy Holdener + 0.05 whilst Austrian athlete Katharina Gallhuber settled for bronze + 0 . 32 sec.

This was Pellegrin’s second Olympic experience following her debut in Sochi Olympiad in 2014.

In Pyeongchang, Pellegrin was accompanied by her coach Marvin Hocquax. Chef de Mission for Malta was Dr. Lucienne Attard.
