SWIEQI PHOENIX LEAD MEN'S HANDBALL

Swieqi Phoenix are currently leading the scoreboards after winning two out of two games in local men first division handball.

Reigning champions La Salle HC are topping the women’s league after beating Birkirkara Handball and Aloysians. Kavallieri, Aloysians and Swieqi Phoenix sit in second place, with three points each.

“It’s been two weeks since the league started, and anything is possible. Quality in both our local handball players has improved drastically since the sport started out in Malta just twenty years ago, making the competition ever more exciting,” says Malta Handball Association’s Marketing Director, Orlando Bonnici.

La Salle's ambidextrous forward Krisztina Kalla leads the top scorer list with 18 goals in two games. Meanwhile, Krisztian Ocshleger of Swieqi Phoenix in the men’s division, with 17 goals.

The league started in November 11 and all teams have played two games were played at the time of writing, except for Luxol H.C. and La Salle in the men’s division. The next game is on December 13 at the University Sports Complex in Tal-Qroqq, Msida.

Kavallieri vs Luxol H.C. 23-16; Aloysians vs Swieqi Phoenix 21-28; La Salle vs Aloysians 20-19; Swieqi Phoenix vs Kavallieri 29-16.

WOMEN’S DIVISION
Birkirkara Handball vs Kavallieri 10-13; Aloysians vs La Salle 15-16; Swieqi Phoenix vs Aloysians 15-24; La Salle vs Birkirkara Handball 24-14; Kavallieri vs Swieqi Phoenix 22-32.
