MALTESE LIFTERS IN SERBIA

This weekend, the annual Weightlifting Vladan Mihajlovic Memorial tournament will be underway in Serbia.

The team representing Malta at the event will be made up of 3 athletes and one official.

Yazmin Zammit Stevens has already started her preparatory training for the upcoming Commonwealth Games set to take place in April of next year. In fact, this tournament will be serve as a test for her early stages of the long preparation for the Games.

Other athletes Vlad Baldacchino and Michael Fava will also be taking the international platform this weekend. While both are relatively new to the international weightlifting scene, Baldacchino and Fava are putting in a lot of hard work in hopes of giving a personal best performance at the tournament.

Jesmond Caruana will be joining the team in Serbia and will be part of the tournament as jury of the competition.

Caruana is an accomplished official in the weightlifting world and highly respected by international peers alike. In fact, he is set to give technical seminars while in Serbia.
