Triathlete Graham Borg celebrated a successful outing at the Vattenfall World Triathlon in Stockholm last weekend, when he earned a Gold medal in the 35-40 Age Group.

Borg was competing in the Licensed Category which is a category in between Elite and Age Group. A total of 150 males took part in this category. Borg won his Age Group and registered a 5th overall placing. In all over 2,000 athletes took part.

Borg competed in the Standard Distance – 1.5km swim, 38km cycle and 10km run. The non-drafting race was held in relatively good conditions though the bike and run segments were challenging.

The 38km bike segment consisted of four loops with an approximate 700m elevation, whilst the run was held in the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan, the old city centre.

“This was Sweden's biggest triathlon event, which brought thousands of spectators along the course. I felt strong from the start and right now am in a very good place, feeling stronger than ever” said an elated Borg after the race.

“My objective this year are to win the Birkirkara St. Joseph Sprint Triathlon Series, aim for a podium place in the National Championships as well as qualify for the Ironman 70.3 championships in South Africa next year”

Borg has, so far had a good triathlon season, with a second place and win in the first two races of the Birkirkara St. Joseph Sprint Triathlon Series.
