GOZO MOTOCROSS NEW SEASON GETS UNDERWAY

The first event of the new season of the Gozo Motocross was a Funrace that took place at Ta’ Xhajma Track amidst hot temperatures and very dry surroundings.

In Class A, winner of Best Rider 2015/16, Mario Cauchi challenged Maltese rider David Dimech on his CRF 450cc.

They were followed closely by Robert Spiteri on a YZF 250cc. All three heats presented an exciting spectacle to the MotoX fans who watched on with great interest.

Another Maltese rider Gethro Apollo together with Gozitan Steve Xuereb were also in Class A as were newcomers Adam Sultana and Matthew Mercieca.

In Class B, Nataniel Camilleri, Keith Bugeja and Maltese rider William Apollo added to the excitement as Jorn Stellini, 2015/16 champion in Class C and Matthew Zammit, 2015/16 champion in Class B fought for 1st place.

In Class C, Anthony Fenech challenged Daniel Camilleri while Steve Cassar, Raymond Caruana and Mark Camilleri also concluded the three heats in this category.

The results of the day are as follows:

CLASS A
1. Mario Cauchi

3. Robert Spiteri

CLASS B
1. Matthew Zammit
2. Jorn Stellini
3. Nataniel Camilleri

CLASS C
1. Daniel Camilleri
2. Anthony Fenech
3. Mark Camiller

Each winner was awarded a trophy each.

Meanwhile the Gozo Motocross Association wishes to announce that the Gozo Motocross Championship 2016/17 will commence on Sunday, 30th October.

More FunRaces and other events such as Enduro and Trials will be taking place during this exciting 2016/17 season. New riders are always welcome.
