HANDBALL DELEGATES AND REFEREES’ SEMINAR

The Malta Handball Association (MHA) in collaboration with the International Handball Federation (IHF), SportMalta and Institute of Physical Education & Sport (IPES), has successfully organised a seminar for handball delegates and referees’.

The seminar was held between the 16 and 20 of September 2016 and served as a preparation for the forthcoming handball season.

Jens Carl Nielsen from Denmark was nominated by the IHF as lecturer for the seminar. He delivered theoretical sessions on various topics including personal behaviour, progressive punishment, distribution of tasks and game management.

He also explained in detail the new playing rules being implemented this season.

The referees undertook a rules’ test and a physical test, and were all assessed and given feedback on a number of matches they whistled during the seminar days.

these matches included the placement and final phase of the men’s and women’s Independence Cup and an U/19 men’s tournament which were held on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Both competitions were held at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

Twenty-two delegates and referees attended the seminar.

More seminars and courses are planned for the coming years.
