Sliema Aquatic Sports Club captain,John Soler, has reached the 1,000-goal mark in the top flight for the club during this week’s water polo game against San Giljan.

A product of the club’s Academy, Soler was first elected to the senior squad in 1995 and played his first game the same year against Ta’ Xbiex.

Soler's first goal with the senior squad came in 1997 against Sirens and never looked back from then on. He was Sliema’s top scorer for 14 years.

Soler has won all major honours including Malta’s Top Division League eight times, Knock-Out Competition (8), Winter League (7) and President’s Cup (7), apart from winning the Quadruple Crown in 1998 and Treble (3).

In his remarkable career Soler was voted Water Polo Player of the Year three times and played for the National Team from 1998 to 2013.

Pure dedication, commitment and true Sliema character have all been the basis of his success.

Sliema ASC and all its supporters would like to thank John for this outstanding achievement and augur that he continues with this tally of goals to bring in more successes to the most decorated club in Malta.
