The Malta Basketball Associaiton will embark on a busy schedule with all its national teams, in various categories from youth level to seniors, involved in FIBA European Championships.

The senior Men and Women national teams will be the forts in action.

In fact the male national team will fly to Moldova this Sunday to play in the FIBA European Championships for Small Countries.

Malta will be playing in Group A and our first opponents will be San Marino on Tuesday. On the following day Malta will face Ireland and then will play Gibraltar on Thursday. The other group is composed of Wales, Andorra, Armenia and Moldova.

Following the successes obtained in the last three editions, with bronze medals in 2010 and 2012 as well as the silver medal two years ago, the national team is presently at the beginning of a transitory stage with the introduction of various young players under the direction of the Italian coach Andrea Paccarie.

The selected squad for Moldova is made up of Sean Borg, Peter Shoults, David Bugeja, Kieron Caruana, Andrew Aquilina, Jean Paul Schembri, Nikola Vasovic, Matthew Gouder, Jacob Formosa, Alec Felice Pace, Stefan Cappello and Tevin Falzon.

At the same time, the national female team will be travelling to Gibraltar for the FIBA European Women Championships for Small Countries. Malta won the bronze medal in the last two editions after having won the Championships in 2008 and 2010.

Malta will be playing in Group B and will face Andorra on Wednesday 29th June and Gibraltar on the following day. Group A is made up of Moldova, Wales and Ireland.

National coach Angela Adamoli has selected the following squad: Sarah Pace, Elena Cassar, Ashley Vella, Samantha Brincat, Maria Bonett, Stef Demartino, Cristina Grima, Beverly Zammit, Gaby Mifsud, Hannah Al Tumi, Josephine Grima and Christina Curmi.
