SADOWSKI TO REPRESENT MALTA IN FRANCE

Fiorella Sadowski will be carrying the Maltese flag at the 24th edition of the European Badminton Championships, which are being held at La Roche-sur-Yon, Cedex, in France between the 26th April and 1st May.

Fiorella, who has been undergoing intense training under the guidance of her father/coach, Martin Farrugia, will be competing in the Women’s Singles event as well as in the Women’s Doubles event partnered by Spanish youngster Laia Oset.

300 players, together with 3 referees, 40 line judges and 150 volunteers, will take the stage for 6 days to offer the best show possible to all badminton fans spread around Europe.

The 2016 European Championships will be the last tournament to count for the Olympic qualification process which began on the 4th May 2015.

The 10 best results, the players achieved in this period, will be used. In Rio, 38 players will take part in each of the single’s events while only 16 pairs will be fighting for the title in doubles’ categories.

The European Championships title will be awarded in five categories: Women’s singles, Men’s singles, Women’s doubles, Men’s doubles and Mixed doubles.
