NATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS SOLIDARJETA' BL-ISPORTS

A record number of 180 athletes aged between 6 and 19 years took part in this year’s Karate National Championships, which were held at Savio College Dingli on the 28th and 29th November.

“We have marked a very eventful year at MKF, having our athletes just competed in Poland and Cyprus in October, winning 25 medals, and yet another group to compete in Campania Open Championship, Naples on the 12th December”, said MKF president Kenneth Abela.

“We are seeing an improvement in the level of karate of our athletes, particularly our young entrants. This is very encouraging for Malta Karate Federation and surely our constant investment in training seminars, where we bring over masters from overseas, is a contributing factor. We strive to provide our athletes with the highest level of preparation required in the world of sports karate where we educate our athletes not only on the technical, physical aspect of karate, but we also adopt a holistic approach which completes the athlete”. These were the comments of MKF Technical Director Sensei James Galea.

Mr Abela concluded by thanking Sport Malta and MOC for their continuous support.
