HOCKEY 5'S MEDITERRANEAN TOURNAMENT

The ground breaking hockey 5s tournament came to an end with the girls’ competition being won by the Italian team who overcame the Turkish side 3–0.

Croatia edged Malta’s first female National side by 4–0 with the locals coming close to scoring on more than two occasions.

The EHF vice president Carola Meyer presented the gold medals to the winning team while the silver and bronze medals were presented by Natalie Busuttil Leaver and Victoria Tabone. The girls’ player of the tournament was Sara Puglisi

The Boys’ final was an exciting affair, both teams giving their all, the game becoming rather feisty towards the end.

Turkey triumphed 7 – 3 scoring four goals in the final session after being two down earlier in the game. The bronze medals were presented by EHF Education and Developement Manager Norman Hughes while the silver medals were presented by Umpires’ Manager Rob Ten Cate.

Chris Busuttil Leaver and Tournament Director David Agius honoured the winners of the tournament. Boys' player of the tournament was Mario Llinovic from Croatia.

This tournament was an initiative of EHF to ensure that this game becomes a development tool to attract more youths to the sport
