MALTA SQUAD PREPARE FOR EHF CHALLENGE IV

The national hockey squad, under the guidance of the national coach Pieter Bregman, has been being put through its paces since January in preparation for the participation in the EHF Challenge IV to be held in LIthuania between the 19 and 25th July.

Training matches against foreign sides have been arranged for this particular purpose. This weekend two games are being played against a visiting side from Stirling University UK and on Saturday 13th June two matches will be played in Sicily against Sicilian opposition.

The 26th and 27th of June will also mark the hosting of the first International Tournament of Hockey 5s under the auspices of the European Hockey Federation for the under 16 category – both male and female .

The countries participating are for Men: Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Turkey and Malta, while those for women are Italy, Croatia, Turkey and Malta.

This is heralding a further three tournaments to be held in Morocco, Croatia and Italy, respectively in preparation for the Youth Olympic Games. EHF Executive Officials will also be in attendance.

Furthermore EHF have chosen to hold an Executive Meeting in Malta which is scheduled for the 18th – 19th September 2015, an event which was previously held here in 2001.
