INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CAMP

Danish international coach Frederik Horn was recently in Malta in order to conduct a Training Camp for junior players.

Organised by the Msida Arrows Badminton Club, this training course was primarily intended for the Club’s better players, all aged below eighteen years. It was held at St. Martin’s College, Swatar.

Two training sessions were held on a daily basis; each session lasted two hours and integrated theoretical and practical aspects; in this way, the participants could assimilate the latest technical and tactical knowhow about the game.

During this intensive training course, Horn focussed particularly on footwork as well as on the “deceptive strokes” that can be used while a game is in progress.

It is relevant to highlight the fact that Msida Arrows is the only local Badminton Club which organises such training camps for its promising players led by foreign qualified coaches who are brought to Malta specifically for this purpose; this was in fact the second consecutive edition of such a camp organised by this club.

It is equally relevant to point out that Denmark is considered by all as arguably the best European nation in Badminton; hence, Danish coaches are much sought after.

While thanking Horn for his efforts, Club President John Attard expressed his satisfaction at the high standard of training which the coach provided to all the participants in this Training Camp.

Furthermore, he underlined his Club’s constant commitment to continue providing its better players with future similar opportunities for the further development of their playing standard as well as with the possibility of playing and competing overseas.
