QORMI MOVE LEVEL WITH SLIEMA

Qormi moved level on points with Sliema Hotsticks at the top of the National Hockey League after crushing White Hart Laferla Insurance 6-0 win on Sunday.

White Hart started with a flourish but did not take advantage of a penalty corner awarded to them within the first minute.

On the contrary, Qormi capitalized on their first short corner when Juan Sarcia netted just three minutes into the game.

Though dominating territorially, Qormi were denied through some excellent goal keeping by the White Hart custodian Robert Vassallo Agius.

On the other hand White Hart were quite dangerous when they countered with swift direct attacks. Half time whistle blew with Qormi still leading by their early effort.

In the 37th minute an Qormi effort clipped the outside of the post after a melee in the D. They then took the game by the scruff of the neck and two minutes later Justin Bonello lashed on to an Isaac Mansueto cross to send his team into a 2 – 0 lead.

Qormi went further ahead in the 42nd minute when Steve Tanti netted after meeting a cross from the right flank.

From then onwards the game was over as a contest for the youthful White Hart eleven and in the 53rd minute Jonathan Borg scored his team’s fourth picking his spot from the top of the D.

Kyle Micallef took his team’s tally up to five and Sarcia scored his second and Qormi’s sixth from a penalty corner.

Umpires: Luke Busuttil Leaver and Emile Borg
