TABLE TENNIS MARATHON FOR ISTRINA

As the end of 2014 approached HiTT Acadamy embarked in doing something different.

Apart from the usual annual awards dinner, a 30 Hour Marathon for Istrina and MCCF was also organised.

This marathon commenced on the 20th of December 2014 at 9:00 am and proceeded till the 21st of December at 3:00pm. The general public also joined in this noble cause held at St Albert the Great College.

Obviously prior to the actual marathon, a lot of preparations were necessary. All HiTT Academy members and families offered their help.

A variety of items were donated for the tuck shop and this made the event more successful.

St Albert College administration also assisted to make the event a success. They distributed sheets to all students so that they could collect money before the actual Marathon or to take part in the drawing competition.

The students surely did great as they collected a beautiful sum which was added to the final amount.

Throughout the marathon itself, there was an incredible atmosphere. It was something that no words could ever describe it.

Everyone’s aim was to collect a considerable amount while enjoying a game of table tennis. This could be possible as various activities were organised for different age groups.

There were various competitions like: HiTT Club Competition, Malta’s Best Competition, Double Games Competition, Late Night Competition, Parent and Player and Ping Pong Competition. There were Fun Games for the very young and an Old Boy’s tournament for ex-players.

All one had to do to participate was to book a slot. A guess how many balls competition was also organised and the winner was Rachel Mifsud.

The winner of the drawing competition was Andrew Bezzina.
The official amount of €1600 raised was announced during the HiTT Annual Awards dinner held on the 27th of December.

During the dinner all students were rewarded for all their hard work and for the various successes which they achieved throughout the year.

The date of this year’s dinner will go down as a night to remember when it was also announced that Mario Genovese, HiTT Head Coach, was awarded The Guinness World Records for the most men’s national titles achieved by anyone in the world.

This is an extraordinary record that bids Mario good luck for his participation in the World Championships of Ping Pong to be held in January in London.
