BIRKIRKARA, FLORIANA BACK TO WINNING WAYS

Birkirkara and Floriana both returned to winning ways after beating Lija Athletic and Mosta respectively on Saturday.

The Stripes beat bottom of the table Lija 2-1 but had to wait till two minutes after the break to open the scoring through Jake Grech.

On 71 minutes Lija leveled the matters when Raphael Kooh Sohna beat Birkirkara’s custodian but two minutes later the Stripes scored what had to be the match winner courtesy of Edward Herrera.

Meanwhile in the other match Floriana brushed aside Mosta 5-0, with the openong goal coming through an own goal, with the second two minutes after the break when they were given a penalty from which Juninho Cabral made no mistake.

On 67 minutes the Greens increased their lead through Michele Paolucci, while seven minutes later Mario Fontanella made it 4-0, with the same player on 80 minutes scoring his second and his side’s fifth.
