PREMIER LEAGUE TRIO GO THROUGH

Balzan Youths, Valletta and Birkirkara booked a place in the semi-finals of the FA Trophy after beating Lija Athletic, Zejtun Corinthians and Qrendi respectively.

Balzan Y. 3-1 Lija A.

The Premier League leaders forged ahead after 11 minutes into the match when Alex da Paixao beat the Athletic’s goalkeeper, while three minutes later doubled their lead through Uros Ljubomirac.

On verge of half-time Lija pulled one back when Aaron Sammut beat the Youths custodian, but after the break on 83 minutes Balzan retsored their two-goal advantage courtesy of Carlos Eduardo de Fiori Mendes.

Valletta 2-0 Zejtun Corinthians

Valletta went into the lead after 26 minutes into the match courtesy of Kyrian Nwoko while after the break on 70 minutes defender Steve Borg doubled his side’s advantage.

Birkirkara 3-0 Qrendi

The Stripes forged ahead a minute before half-time through Cain Attard, while 11 minutes after the break doubled their lead thanks to Nikola Vukanac.

Late into the match on 86 minutes Birkirkara increased their advantage when Edward Herrera grabbed his side’s third.
