STRIPES EXTEND WINNING RUN

Birkirkara made it seven successive wins after beating Naxxar Lions 2-0, while Floriana and Sliema Wanderers both bounced back from last week’s defeats.

The Stripes opened the scoring a minute after the break through Terence Agius, while on 57 minutes doubled their advantage courtesy of Waldemar Acosta.

Meanwhile Sliema Wanderers and Floriana defeated bottom of the table Lija Athletic and Hamrun Spartans respectively.

Sliema Wanderers won 2-0 with the goals coming from an own goal by Ousmane Sidibe on 59 minutes, with the secong two minutes later thanks to Michele Sansone, while Floriana beat Hamrun Spartans 1-0, with the match winner in the first half when on 27 minutes Juninho Cabral beat the Spartans custodian.

In Saturday’s other match Senglea Athletic and Tarxien Rainbows played out a 2-2 draw.
