GZIRA HIT BACK TO DOWN TARXIEN

Gzira United came from a goal down to beat Tarxien Rainbows 3-1 while Hamrun Spartans and St. Andrews played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Tarxien went into the lead on 30 minutes when Ricardo Silva Faria hard drive beat the Maroons goalkeeper Justin Haber.

Two minutes into time added on of the first-half Gzira leveled the matters when they were given a penalty from which Amadou Samb beat the Rainbows goalkeeper.

After the break Gzira forged ahead when on 71 minutes Amadou Samb grabbed his second of the afternoon while on 84 minutes Nikolai Muscat scored his side’s third and thus return to winning ways.

In the other match Hamrun Spartans broke the deadlock after 10 minutes through Davide Succi, but 12 minutes after the break St. Andrews equalised courtesy of Kemar Reid to salvage a precious point.
