GZIRA, TARXIEN RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Gzira United and Tarxien Rainbows both Returned to winning ways after beating Valletta and St. Andrews respectively on Sunday.

Gzira United 2-1 Valletta

Tha Maroons forged ahead early into the match when after three minutes Amadou Samb beat the Citizens goalkeeper Henry Bonello, while on three minutes later Juan Carlos Corbalan doubled his side’s lead.

After the break on 67 minutes Valleta pulled one back when they were given a penalty from which Denni Rocha Dos Santos made no mistake.

Three minutes into time added on the Citizens finsihed with ten man when central defender Steve Borg was sent off after receiving a straight red.

Tarxien Rainbows 3-2 St. Andrews

It was the Saints who broke the deadlock when they were given a penalty from which Joseph Farrugia made no mistake.

Tarxien leveled the matters on 25 minutes through Ricardo Silva Faria, while 11 minutes later took the lead when they were also awarded a penalty from which Matar Dieye beat the Saints goalkeeper.

Travis Blagrove, who committed the penalty was shown his second yellow card and so was sent off and thus left his side with ten man.

Despite being with one man less on the pitch Michael Woods side on 71 minutes equalised courtesy of Kemar Reid but six minutes later Tarxien scored the match winner when Ricardo Silva Faria shot past goalkeeper Calleja Cremona.
