ZMERC CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

Zmerċ Christmas tournament is now nearing its end with only the semis and the final still to be played.

Unfortunately in the last games teams were not at their best with several regular players missing for various reasons, mostly working or injured.

Masters Football recognise the medical problem and is trying its best on which way and how it can help now that also the MFA is ready to assisthelp financially.

Back to the tournament, In the quarter finals, Targa Gap, only in its first season in Masters Fooobsll are showing strong determination to succeed and built for the future. To qualify for the semis they had to beat Zurrieq WolvesI 9-5.

They merited their win and had Stephen Place at his best scoring four. He is a complete player and is very difficult to stop him when he gets the ball. Captain of the team Adrian Gatt was also impressive.

The team almost made sure in the first half going for the break 6-1 in the lead. Zurrieq Wolves with several regular players missing, amongst them their best scorer Alistair Camilleri, in the first half were disorganisd. They improved in the second half, bu there was never any doubt about who was going to win.

B’Kara Masters also moved on to the semi final after beating Dingli Desana 12 – 9. Also in this game several players from both teams were missing, the like of Carlo Mamo, Charlo Magro, William Camenzuli, Simon Shead and others.

However, even with such handicap, both teams offered an interessting game and most of the time play was balanced. Going for the break B’Kara took a lead of 6-5 and by the last ten minutes they were infront 12-6.

It was clear that Desana were not going to make it, although they kept trying. Mark Deguara had a good game fo B’kara and deserved to be voted as the ‘man of he match’.
