BALZAN GO THREE POINTS CLEAR

Balzan Youths opened a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League after beating Senglea Athletic 1-0, while Sliema Wanderers came from a goal down to beat Gzira United 2-1 on Saturday.

The goal that gave the Youths the three important points came a minute into time added on of the first-half courtesy of striker Bojan Kaljevic.

The Maroons opened the scoring after just nine minutes into the match when Emmanuel Ndubuisi Okoye beat the Blues goalkeeper.

But two minutes before the break the Wanderers leveled the matters through Matias Muchardi, while on 90 minutes grabbed the match winner courtesy of Nicolae Milinceanu.

Elsewhere Hamrun Spartans brushed aside bottom of the table Lija Athletic 5-1 with Marco Criaco grabbing a double.

Meanwhile in another match Naxxar Lions beat neighbours Mosta 2-0.
