LIJA GRABS FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Lija Athletic came from two goals down to beat Tarxien Rainbows 3-2 to register their first premier league win of the season, while Gzira United and Mosta played out a 2-2 draw.

Tarxien forged ahead on 22 minutes through Ryan Darmanin, while 12 minutes later doubled their lead when Godwin MacKay beat goalkeeper Luke Bonnici.

But after the break Lija hit back in style when on 49 minutes pulled one back through Patrick Borg, while on 66 minutes leveled the matters thanks to Rafael Kooh Sohna with the same player two minutes into time added on grabbing the winner.

Besides, the two sides finished the game with ten man when first on 24 minutes Lija’s Beu Erjon was shown his second yellow card, while after the break on 74 minutes it was the turn of Tarxien’s Sean Cipriot to receive the marching orders.

Gzira Utd 2-2 Mosta

Mosta broke the deadlock after 10 minutes into the match through an own-goal committed by Ogolong Kamana Sem Ogolong but 36 minutes the Maroons leveled the matters courtesy od Moises Avila Perez Moises.

After the break Gzira went into the lead when on 59 minutes were given a penalty from which Samba Tounkara made no mistake but on 90 minutes Mosta grabbed the equaliser when Tyrone Farrugia beat goalkeeper Justin Haber.
