MALTA GRABS FIRST POINT

Malta grabbed its first point in the penultimate 2018 FIFA World Cup Group F qualifier against Lithuania at the National Stadium on Thursday.

The Maltese side broke the deadlock after 23 minutes into the match when Hibernians defender Andre Agius with a hard drive from outside the area beat the visitors goalkeeper Emilijus Zubas.

Barely a minute have passed that Lithuania went very near to level the matters when Deivydas Matulevicius hit the woodwork with goalkeeper Hogg beaten.

But eight minutes after the break the visitors leveled the matters when Vykintas Slivka shot past the Maltese custodian Hogg.
