MARSA LEAD THE WAY

After all teams played their second game, Marsa White Stars are the surprise team leading in first place.

Wardija are also in first place but they played a game more, while champions Mosta Shaggy managed to win after a hard fought encounter with Rabat.

In the Mapfre/MSV Life Masters Premier League, Marsa White showed more improvement and is now the only team that remained unbeaten.

After beating B’kara in their first game, they showed class in winning against DINGLI DESANA 8-5. Before the break they had a comfortable lead of 6-2, with Gilbert Scerri scoring no less than three from a total of four he scored during the game.

In the second half Dingli came back. They scored two quick goals, but although they did all the pressure Marsa held on and got the points.

Champions MOSTA SHAGGY’S showed good progress since they lost their first game.They are still away from last season’s standard.

They had to produce good attacking moves to beat the resistance of the Rabat team 6-3. This was another showcase of high standard football with Cedric Scibeerras being the pick for Mosta and Chris Muscat was again the best for Rabat.

There was no difference between both sides in the first half, finishing 1-1. But in the second, Mosta were a little bit better. Both sides should be congratulated for showing great sportsmanship.

In the top match of the week between WARDIJA and B’KARA, we had some Classic football , Wardija just winning 6-5.

High standard of play by both sets of players, w as also shown, amongts them William Barbosa who made all the difference, . Going for the break, Wardija were leading 4-1. In the second half they seemed tyred but they still managed to lead 6-3.

However, B’Kara made a great effort late in the game to get near 6-5. They pressured on to save the game, but Wardija were not to be denied. Their best player was William Canenzuli,

In the Cisk Masters League Division One, Jival continue to surprise, even though it was not easy to beat Melita 9-6.

The team is strong enough to challenge for honours this season. El Baden was again in great form, scoring four. Melita were startled, but in the second half bein g 1-6 down, they came out strongly and scored four consecutive goals. At the end Melita tried to save the game, but Jival held ot well.

ZURRIEQ WOLVES, were a determined side and deserved their win against ZABBAR 5-2. Zurrieq Wolves were leading 3-1 at half time went 5-1 up, and it was only late in the game that Zabbar scored again.
