FOOTBALL MASTERS – START OF NEW A SEASON

Masters Football Malta opened the new season 2017/18 with the Tools Planet pre-season Tournament, a popular competition that give the chance for teams to give trials to new players before registrations close on 10th September.

The first match ended with a good win for champions MOSTA SHAGGY who beat MELITA CELTICS 9-5 to reach the quarter finals. Mosta had Ibrahim Tarik in fine form and the team is strong enough to challenge for the title and remain champions.

In another game RABAT had to fight hard to beat the resistance of JIVAL. Rabat managed to win with two late goals,. JIVAL are a good team and strong enough to challenge any opponents.

Another interesting game was that between VALLETTA ST. PAULI who managed to beat new team TARGA GAP 3-1 with the winning goal being scored in the last three minutes by Aldrin Muscat who was making his debut in the Masters League. Muscat is an ex player with various teams in the MFA Premier Division.

WARDIJA were too strong for ZURRIEQ WOLVES, winning 9-4 to pass on to the quarter finals. Wardija had several new faces and showed good coordination and attacking football. Massimo Schembri scored a hat-trick.

Last team to go into the quarter finals was MARSA WHITE STARS who beat B’KARA MASTERS 11 -7, with both teams giving an interesting performance. For Marsa Aaron Pendry and new player Gilbert Scerri showed class and scored five goals between them.
