BROOK AND KHAN IN TALKS FOR BATTLE OF BRITAIN

Eddie Hearn has revealed there is a "good chance" that British rivals Kell Brook and Amir Khan will fight next year.

Khan earlier this year dismissed the prospect of stepping into the ring with Brook, stating that the IBF welterweight champion is not a big enough name for him.

Brook last month said he is eyeing blockbuster unification fights in 2017 after raising eyebrows by stepping up two weight classes to do battle with the great Gennady Golovkin at the O2 Arena in September.

But the Sheffield native, who was stopped by Golovkin in the fifth round after suffering a broken eye socket, could come up against fellow Englishman Khan at Manchester Arena or Old Trafford.

Hearn, Brook's promoter, told BBC Sport: "There's a good chance of it [the fight] happening.

"Amir wants it to happen, so does Kell. We want to put a fight on for the fans."

Hearn added: "Kell has proved himself. He beat Shawn Porter and had a good fight with Golovkin. The time is right."

Khan, brutally knocked out by Saul Alvarez in May, tweeted a picture of himself with Golovkin and posted: "The 1st man to smash kell brooks face @GGGBoxing, standing with him is the next guy to smash Kelly brooks face! #ReadyWhenYouAre".

Brook replied: "Glad you've woken up from your last KO, I believe our teams are talking I look forward to sending you back to sleep #QueenKardashion."
